Parkland Women Control DACC and Win Conference Title

The #16 Parkland College Women’s Basketball team beat Danville 84-60 on Wednesday night and clinched their 7th straight M-WAC title PC had earned a share of the title with the when but clinched the outright title when 2nd place Lewis and Clark dropped a 64-63 decision at home to John Wood. The Cobras (21-6 8-1) beat the Jaguars for the second time this season and will play at Lincoln Land in their regular season finale on Saturday.

The Cobras were methodical in the victory, outscoring the visitors by six points in every quarter. PC led 18-12 after the first 10 minutes and extended their lead to 37-25 at the half. The margin was 62-44 after three as Parkland cruised to the win.  Three players finished in double figures as 11 of the 12 players scored.  Kyra Washington led the way with 14 points as she hit 4-6 from three-point range and also grabbed 5 rebounds. Avery Hamm also hit four three’s as she finished with 12 points and Kerstyn Lowery added 11.   Three players finished with 8 points as Layne Buzan had 8 points and 9 boards, Charity Godbold had 8 points and 4 assists, while Payton Bieber finished with 8 points and 6 boards.  The Cobras shot 49% for the game and were a perfect 8-8 at the line.  DACC got a huge game from Brelanair Cox who had 23 points and 11 rebounds.  Ra’Shay Trentin came off the bench to score 15 as the pair had 38 of DACC’s 60 points.
