Cobra Men Begin Nationals With Come from Behind Win

The Parkland College Men overcame a dismal shooting night on Tuesday to rally for a 62-54 win over Johnson County CC of Kansas. The victory moves PC on to a 6:00 Thursday night game against the winner of Tuesday nights' last game between Richard Bland VA./Cincy State.  

The Cobras over came 33% shooting by forcing 16 turnovers while committing just 5 of their own. PC also made 13-16 free throws in the second half and 19-23 for the game. The game was tied at 26-26 at the half as Luke Beesley carried the Cobras making 6 of 8 shots while the rest of the team made just 4 of 23. 

The 2nd half could not have started any worse as PC was assessed a technical at the end of the first half and the Cavs scored the first seven points to take a 33-26 lead. JCJC led 45-38 with 8:37 to go before PC went on a 12-0 run to take a 50-45 lead. Marcus Latham and Cornelius McIntosh hit back to back three's to tie the contest and give the Cobras their first lead since 6-4. The Cobras would push the lead to eight with 1:11 left on a Terrion Howard lay-up.  Johnson County would close the gap to four with 28.4 remaining buy McIntosh made four straight free throws to seal the win. 

Luke Beesley had another double-double for PC with 16 points and 11 rebounds while McIntosh had 15 and Howard 13.  David Turner led the Cavs with 15 points and 12 boards. The Cobras now stand (28-3) after their 22nd straight win and will get Wednesday off before making their 2nd straight appearance in the NJCAA D-II Elite Eight.
