Shanuel Named DII All American

Parkland freshman pitcher Brady Schanuel (Edwardsville HS) has been named a 2nd team All-American today by the NJCAA. Schanuel, has signed with Ole Miss, and will have the option to go there next year, return to Parkland, or sign a professional contract; depending on the results of this week’s Major League Baseball draft. 

 

Schanuel finished the season with a 10-3 record and a school record 131 strikeouts in just 83.2 innings of work.  He compiled an earned run average of just 1.82 allowing only 17 earned runs and 52 hits in 14 starts for the Cobras. He threw 4 complete games and had 7 games with over 10 strikeouts including a career high 16 against Spoon River and 14 against both Illinois Central and John Wood. He led all of NJCAA D-2 in strikeouts and strikeouts per innings pitched, was 6th in lowest earned run average and tied for 10th in victories.

 

Schanuel becomes the Cobras 10th NJCAA All-American since 2009 and the first since 2014 when Isaac Sampen was also named a 2nd Team selection.
