Cobras Dominate Lincoln for Second Time this Year

In a battle of the top and bottom teams in the conference, the Cobras wasted little time as they crushed Lincoln College 15-0 in M-WAC play Tuesday afternoon in Champaign.  The Cobras scored 9 times in the opening half and cruised to the win. The score was a repeat of Parkland's 15-0 win at Lincoln earlier in the fall.

 

Catherine McHale got PC on the board just two minutes into the match and Brittany Johnson followed off an assist from Alyssa Jones just a minute later.  Johnson, McHale, Jones, and Ellie McKenzie would each score two goals in the opening half with Kaljit Atwal adding the other.

 

Johnson would score the Cobras first and last goal of the second half to finish with four on the afternoon.  McKenzie scored her third goal late and Shania Maddux got on the board with a pair of goals of her own after intermission.  PC out shot Lincoln 43-2 on the match as they improved to (8-1-1 4-0). Lincoln stays winless on the season as they drop to (0-10  0-4).

 

The Cobras have a huge Region 24 showdown this Thursday as they host Southwestern Illinois College starting at 4:00.

Cobra Women Blank Kaskaskia

The #5 Cobra Women would take the field against Kaskaskia and continue their winning ways blanking the Blue Angels 7-0.  Six of those would come before halftime as scoring goals were Kaljit Atwal (44', 23'), Leticia Rebello (21'), Bo Travis (16'), Ellie McKenzie (11'), and Olivia McCafferty (5').  The lone goal in the second half would be another from McKenzie to make the final.  Parkland improves to 7-1 on the season.

Cobras Finish Tourney Unbeaten

#1 PC Volleyball wraps up a perfect (6-0) weekend and stays undefeated (26-0) on the year with a 3-1 win over Jackson. The Cobras beat the Jets 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, and 25-9. Parkland will get some much deserved rest before traveling to the Johnson County Invite next Friday and Saturday.

Parkland Cruises by Rend Lake

Parkland would take on the Rend Lake Warriors in their second match of the day and the results would be the same with another sweep  25-8, 25-8, 25-12.  The win improves the Cobra record to (24-0)

Cobras Take Down Rock Valley to Open Day Two of Tourney

Parkland Finishes Day One Strong

In the second match, the Cobras recorded another sweep with scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-16. Hayley Gray hit .900 with 9 kills on 10 attempts. Gross and Barnard had 9 kills each. Kailey Kleinert had 5 blocks, and Harpest got 16 digs.

PC improves to 22-0 ahead of two more matches tomorrow evening starting at 4:45pm.

Cobras Off to Fast Start at PC Invitational

The #1 Parkland Cobras host 14 other top NJCAA teams this weekend and kicked off the 3-day tournament with two evening matches vs Southwestern Illinois and Iowa Central.

In that first match vs SWIC, the Cobras swept the match in scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-15. Laura Gross pounded 9 kills and had 10 blocks in the 3-set match. Lizzy Barnard notched 7 kills, and Sofi Kelemete had a career high 13 blocks. Jaime Johnson recorded 18 assists and Kell Lean had 11. Madison Harpest dug 12 balls in the match.

Cobra Volleyball Wins Five Set Thriller

The #1 Parkland Cobras faced off with #7 Lincoln Land tonight and had a battle from the beginning. Down 22-24 in the first set, PC battled back behind stellar serving from Lizzy Barnard and took the first set 26-24. The Loggers bounced back in the second set and tied it at 1-1 with a score of 25-19. The third set was a back-and-forth affair with the Cobras squeaking out the third set 25-23. But again, the gritty Loggers pushed ahead in the fourth set with a 25-21 win. This forced a fifth set in which PC finally settled down and found a rhythm on the court early to take the deciding set 15-6.

Miaya Peacock led the Cobras with 18 kills and 11 digs, and Laura Gross notched 11 kills and 6 blocks. Kailey Kleinert and Sofi Kelemete had 5 blocks each for the Cobras. Lizzy Barnard notched 7 kills, 11 digs and 3 aces in the match. Both Cobra setters notched double-doubles with Kell Lean registering 23 assists and 10 digs, and Jaime Johnson had 20 assists and 10 digs. Libero Madison Harpest led the defense with 31 digs in the contest.

Although the Cobras did not have the fluidity illustrated on the weekend, it was a good match to grind out against another Top 20 team. This is the 8th win for the Cobras against the Top 20. PC improves to 20-0 overall and 2-0 the M-WAC. Lincoln Land drops to 12-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Cobras host several Top 20 teams again this weekend at the Parkland Invite Friday-Sunday with the first Cobra match at 5:45pm vs Southwestern Illinois.

Another Offensive Outburst Secures Win for Parkland

Ellie McKenzie scored three times on Wednesday afternoon to help lead the #8 Parkland Women's Soccer team to a 11-0 blanking of M-WAC foe Illinois Central College. The Cobras improved to (5-0 2-0) with the win while ICC dropped to (1-4-1 0-2).

Leticia Rebello got PC on the board early as she scored an unassisted goal 14 minutes into the match. McKenzie followed with the first of her three goals with an assist to Brittany Johnson. Catherine McHale added the final goal of the ...first half at the 37 mark on a pass from Alyssa Jones.

The second half was all Cobras as they scored eight more times after the break. Marie Lukusa scored just two minutes into the half and McHale scored her second goal just two minutes later. Rebello and Maria Pelayo picked up the assist's on the two goals. Kaljit Atwal would score the next two Cobra goals with help from McHale and Rebello again. Brittany Johnson converted on a penalty kick to make it 8-0 while McKenzie would score two more times and Dalia Santana would score her first as Johnson and Pelayo aided the scores.
PC out shot ICC 35-6 on the afternoon.

Things will get much tougher for the Cobras over the next four matches starting with a 4:00 showdown this Friday against #6 Iowa Central in Champaign.

Cobras Get Second Win of Day

The Cobras finished their second match with another three-set sweep. PC defeated Olivet Nazarene JV 25-15, 25-17, 25-20. Laura Gross recorded 7 kills and 6 blocks while Lizzy Barnard had 6 kills on the match. Sofi Kelemete led the block with 8. Madison Harpest had 10 digs to lead the defensive effort and Jaime Johnson recorded 15 assists.

 

Parkland improves to 12-0 overall and travels to Decatur on Monday for a 10am match against McKendree University and 12pm against Joliet CC.

Parkland Volleyball Dominates First Home Appearance

The #1 ranked Parkland Cobras opened today's duo of matches vs Oakton CC. The Cobras won the match in straight sets 25-7, 25-12, 25-15. Gabby Pearl led the attack with 7 kills, and Sofi Kelemete notched 4 blocks. A trio of Cobras recorded 3 service aces (Jaime Johnson, Miaya Peacock and Paige Griffith).

Parkland Wins M-WAC Conference Opener

The Parkland Men would welcome Heartland CC to Champaign for their first M-WAC conference match of the season and the Cobras would show some fire power.  After a bit of a sloppy start for both teams, Parkland would eventually settle in and score the first goal on a header by Jake Sanders.  Jon Lukusa would also get a goal to send the Cobras up 2-0 at the half.

Heartland would answer with a goal of their own about 13 minutes into the second half before it was all Cobras the rest of the way.  Daniel Kadima, Feli Keti, and Keenan Meddings (2) would all score to give PC the win by the 6-1 final.  
Parkland (2-1-1) will travel to Missouri over the weekend as they take on St. Charles CC Friday and Jefferson CC on Sunday.

Women’s Soccer Crack Top 10 of National Poll at #8

On the heels of a pair of season opening wins, including a 2-0 win over then #9 Monroe Community College, the Parkland Women’s Soccer team lands at #8 in the first NJCAA D-1 Soccer Poll of the season. The Cobras (2-0) travel to play at Lincoln today at 4:00 before hosting another ranked foe, #14 Waubonsee CC this Sunday at 1:00.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

Sophomore Catherine McHale has led the Cobras so far this season with 3 goals and 1 assist while Alyssa Jones has a goal and an assist.
