Volleyball Cobras On The Roll!

September 29th, 2010

It was a complete victory and a totally entertaining one as the Parkland spikers ran their season record to 25-5 with a convincing three games to none win again visiting Lewis and Clark CC.  The game scores were 25-11, 25-17, and 25-19.  The Parkland Volleyball team made quick work of their M-WAC foe Wednesday night sweeping past the Blazers in a match that lasted just 55 minutes. The Cobras, moved back up to #4 in the latest NJCAA poll, received a balanced offense led by Alexis Braghini (10 kills), Melissa McClain (8 kills), Jenna Einck (6 kills) and Emily Rose (5 kills). The offense was implemented to perfection by setters Molly Goodrich and Melanie Moore.  Both setters also led an aggressive serving barrage with 7 aces between them (Moore with 5, Goodrich with 2).  But it was the much improved blocking by the Cobras that really set them apart with Braghini setting a season high of 6 blocks and McClain, Rose, and Nechelle Veal each notching 3 blocks apiece. The Cobras improved to 3-0 in the M-WAC, while Lewis & Clark falls to (14-9 1-1). PC is off until October 8 when they will compete at the Des Moines Area CC Invite.

UI Outscores Cobras in Pre-Season Softball

September 24th, 2010

Forget the scoreboard this time.  Our Cobras took on a top-25 D1 softball power at their house and looked pretty good doing it.  Yes, the final was 7-0, but the Cobras featured combative pitching and some excellent fielding at Eichelberger Field on Friday afternoon.  For CobraSportsNet, it was a special occasion, as we welcomed back former Parkland College and Bradley University standout Lindsay Watkins, who provided some outstanding work as a color commentator and later as a play-by-play announcer.  We had a great time bringing you this game, so of course we hope you'll enjoy listening to it!  Mark it down - this Cobra team is going to be REAL good in the spring!
