Cobra Women Take M-WAC Crown

The #16 Parkland Women’s Basketball team led from start to finish Saturday as they defeated visiting Lincoln Land 64-52.  The victory earned the Cobras their 8th straight conference title as well as the #1 seed in the Region 24 Tournament. The Cobras (22-6) will take on #8 seed Danville at Noon Friday at Lincoln Land. PC swept the Jaguars in their two meetings this season. 

Both teams struggled with their shooting out of the gate but PC was able to take a 15-8 lead after the opening quarter as Ryan Dooley led the way with 9 points.  PC would extend their lead to 32-21 at the half as Micah Tapscott would score 6 points in the second quarter.  The shooting warmed up in the 3rd period as the Cobras outscored the Loggers 21-20 to take a 53-41 lead into the final 10 minutes. PC would push the lead to as many as 16 points before settling for the 12 point victory. PC shot 38% on the night to 31% for LLCC.  The Cobras made three more 3’s and three more free throws then the Loggers and won despite being outrebounded 40-33. Both teams were careless with the ball as LLCC committed 25 turnovers to 20 for PC.  Ryan Dooley paced the Cobras with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals while Micah Tapscott finished with 14 points. LLCC was led by Madison Jones who had a game high 20 points.
